Thanks Renee and Lisa,
... and you can put any left over tomato sauce and pasta into a baking dish, give it a good stir, top with Parmesan cheese and bake for 10-15 mins. Great as a side dish - I did just that last night and served it with baked fish. Nice :)

Hi Jan,

I have never thought to make my own tomato sauce for any of my meals! What a great idea....and your recipe sounds so easy! We cook a lot with garlic and olive oil, so I reckon this pasta sauce recipe is perfect for a great meal for our boys!
Cheers

Hi Lynnette,
Yes, the beans are great for adding extra protein - and they taste great too :)
I use anchovies a lot. They add great flavour and also season the dish - so there's usually no need to add any extra salt.

I cook something similar without the beans and I do like the idea that you add the beans for extra protein. I usually tossed some 'pancetta' or 'bacon bits' on top but beans are healthier and great for vegetarian. I also love the idea of having anchovies in the sauce. It gives the extra depth to the taste. Children who hate anchovies seemed not to mind if you ensure that you melt or crush the anchovies into the sauce whilst cooking.

Hi Cherie,
I think putting some fresh fruit into this slice is a great idea!
You could put fresh fruit instead of the mixed fruit, or do a combination of the two - up to one-and-a-half cup fulls in total should be enough.
Cut the fruit quite small and mix it with the dry ingredients, before you add the liquid.
Let me know how it turns out - maybe I'll try myself next time I make it :)

What a great and quick recipe.

Do you think fresh fruit, cut up stone fruit would be okay to use in the slice as well?

Hi David,
Sad news about your lemon tree! Loads of lemons on our two trees - but alas nowhere near ripe yet. I'm back to buying them again at the moment.

Never thought of cutting lasagne sheets into fettuccine. That's a good one. Cheers for the summer recipe. I'll need to take some lemons from my neighbour though as our tree has died.
