I’ll shortly be posting a dinner in ten minutes recipe that’s great served with Couscous, so thought I’d get one step ahead of myself and give you some tips on cooking nice fluffy Couscous.   Here goes:-

Cooking Tips

I always use a cup measure to make Couscous.  If you don’t have an actual cup measure, just use a regular cup.  One cup of raw Couscous makes enough for approx 2-3 serves.  You will need twice the amount of water, some oil and a little bit of salt.

For Example (serves approx 4-6):

  • 2 Cups Couscous
  • 4 Cups Boiling Water
  • 2 Table Spoons Oil (I use Olive Oil)
  • Half Tea Spoon Salt

Couscous

  1. Measure 4 cups of boiling water from the kettle into a saucepan.  Bring back to the boil
  2. Take off the heat and add the Oil, Salt and finally the  Couscous.  Give it all a stir
  3. Cover with lid immediately and stand for approx 5 minutes
  4. Remove lid and fluff up Couscous with fork
  5. Ready to serve

How easy was that?

Couscous freezes well so don’t be afraid of making too much.
